Tampa - 28 Tampa Bay Interim News Director Shawn Briggs announced the appointment of Al Keck to Sports Anchor/Reporter effective July 1, 2001.

"Al told us the most important thing to him is to live and work in the Tampa Bay area," said Briggs. "We're pleased to have this talented sports anchor join the 28 Tampa Bay Sports team while providing him with the opportunity to keep him and his family in the area." For the past thirteen years, Keck served as Sports Director/Anchor for WTSP, Channel 10. There he built a strong reputation as one of the premiere sports talents in the market.

Keck will work directly with Sports Director Jay Crawford. He will anchor weekend sportscasts, any weekday when Jay is away, and will contribute to Sunday SportsRap and special prime-time Bucs programs airing when the team plays on Monday Night Football on ABC 28.

"This is an ideal move for us," said Crawford. "Good sports coverage, like good sports franchises, involves teamwork. The stronger the teammates the better the whole team. Al Keck is as good as they get."
