Teligent System 314 Provides the Small Office / Home Office Environment with Corporate Level Phone Features.

An expanding market for Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) equipment will increase demand to incorporate the advanced features of large PBXes into smaller phone systems. Features such as an easy to use system phone, user-recordable auto attendant, Direct Inward System Access (DISA), and automatic fax switching make a system simple to use, enhance productivity, and lowers operating costs while providing a professional appearance to incoming callers. The Teligent System 314 includes all of these features and has the unique advantage of using a single shared twisted pair of wires within a building to support four separate simultaneous voice conversations and up to fourteen extensions.

The unique ability to operate on a single internal twisted pair of wires might not seem important until one considers how to install the system, reconfigure it, or change locations. The Teligent 314 system shares its single internal twisted pair with all instruments. Practically, this means that there is no need to rewire locations as they all have at least one twisted pair installed to all existing jacks. Additional phone company lines are simply plugged into the Controller which instantly gives all devices access to the new phone line. To change location of a phone, simply unplug from one location and plug in at another location anywhere on the shared twisted pair wire. The system automatically adjusts to changes in stations and remembers previous settings, even with power failure.

The built in auto attendant provides voice greetings and prompting options that are selected and easily recorded by the user. Productivity is enhanced by minimizing call handling with options such as directory messages prompting the caller to press a key or dial an extension. The system adapts to various mixes of home/office or multiple businesses with separate voice messages for various combinations of incoming phone lines. Advertisement or courtesy messages on hold give the SOHO office a professional large company appearance to the incoming caller.

DISA coupled with call waiting, internal COM line calls and call forwarding provide extreme flexibility while voice messages and prompts keep it simple to use. Automatic fax switching provides direct call routing to a fax machine when fax tones are detected on any incoming line and supports multiple faxes, backup fax, internal fax, and remote fax retrieval. Fax capability is available on all lines and the need for dedicated fax lines is eliminated.

Similar to larger Electronic Key Telephone Systems (EKTS) systems, Teligent 314 provides a custom line powered system phone to make sophisticated business features easy to use. Special buttons for line select, hold, and connect in conjunction with indicator lights make handling, transferring, and conferencing calls easy to remember and perform. A speaker phone model is also available.

Standard cordless phones, answering machines, voice mail systems, modems, or any other off the shelf phone instrument can have access to all lines and features through an adapter box. When going off-hook, the ringing line or any available outside line is automatically selected. A multitude of speed dial memories are available to all instruments. Each phone has many programmable feature options including line ring preference, line select order, callback/camp-on, line privacy release, mute, do not disturb, and all ring. Each station can be shared by 2 employees and has two possible extensions numbers, each with distinctive rings. Paging and broadcasting are included for use with loud speaker pagers and speaker phones.

System wide features are accessed from Station "0". Modes, settings and restrictions such as receptionist mode, messaging method, voice message recording, night mode, system wide memories, imposing line and toll restrictions, call blocking, call screening, and call screening security code provide a wide range of system environments.

Hardware features include a music on-hold interface, battery backup of all memories and system settings, power fail phone interface, voice mail interface, and compatibility with standard door phones.

Teligent uses patented communication technology and system architecture to provide exceptional adaptability, performance, and programmability. A single multipurpose custom IC chip (used for communication and control in each instrument) and off the shelf components brings reliability and low cost. Priced very competitively, these systems are available for immediate delivery from Teligent. Look for new features and components to be added in the future including integrated home/office security and control, TAPI compliance, Caller ID and integrated voice mail.

The chip, its supporting technology, and system software are available under license to manufacturers for development of similar or very different niche products from Creative Integrated Systems, a southern California high tech company.
