The PALS Story |

As they became heavier, it became more difficult for us get our Nutz off. It became apparent early on that it was going to be more difficult to successfully hand launch our missions. Having gone through a phase of "spud gunning" we decided to put that experience to use and came up with a pneumatic cannon. I tend to over engineer things and this was no exception. The prototype gun is over 5' long and is way overpowered for what we need it to do. The plans show step-by-step how to build your own compact PALS, but you could easily build it to any size you wish. The compact PALS can be easily energized by a foot pump or even a small 12V compressor since the pressure requirements are quite low (35-45 psi) to launch a plane in the 2-3 lb range. |
