Tom Selleck
Just another pretty face? I think not. I have to face it Ladies; I am no different than some men when it comes to judging a supposed sex object. Men see a very attractive woman and some think bimbo no brains, I see a very attractive man and sometimes think testosterone no brain. And just like men I can enjoy them without much mental interaction heck beauty is beauty is beauty. But when the combination is beauty and brains Wow! What an exciting combo that is. Mr. Selleck was being interviewed on T.V, and was asked about his view on gun control, and other freedoms. I kid you not; our politicians can take a couple of lesson from Mr. Selleck. He was polite, charming, humorous, but most of all Clear, logical, and firm in his convictions. I was very impressed with the fact that. Mister Selleck did not let the fluffy banter make his stand unclear, and all this without being rude, flowery, or arrogant. The First issue that came up was gun control. Mr. Selleck said guns are inanimate objects. Implication being inanimate objects obviously have no life of their own, it's the impulse behind the gun that needs to be checked not the gun, Well that's so logical how can anyone not see this? I don't have a gun never did nor wish to But to blame a gun for killing someone is the same as blaming the gas chambers for the atrocities perpetrated by the monster Hitler. It's the abnormal destructive impulses that have to be corrected. Guns, gas chambers, knives don't have impulses human beings do. Then they went on to discuss censorship. He said he disapproved mightily with some of the shows on television, but more importantly he thought it was a mistake to censor or accuse these show of being the culprits behind our problems in society to the point where our freedoms were put in danger of being no more. I could not agree more. when I was a kid I saw cowboys on television kill 9 or 10 bad guys with one bullet and never did I entertain the Idea that I would someday do that. The cartoons were filled with characters that punched and maim each other; the fairy tales were pretty grim indeed. Some of the poisoning and torture perpetrated on their heroines were real scary, the three stooges made a whole career out of their very physical shenanigans and never did I or most our generations feel that somehow that gave us license to go out and behave in the same manner. The implication here is that somehow the kids today are more susceptible, less intelligent, and more gullible and just go out and act out what they see. I don't believe that for one moment. If that were the case than with all the advances in technology, science and the media we would have a world filled with super intelligent, wise capable well-informed individuals. Do you think we do? Maybe the problem lies with the fact that we have become so insane with consumerism and things that we are to busy to pay attention to family values it's become a corny outdated notion no one wants anything less than the newest this or that the latest this and if quality time with family or friends has to be sacrifice so be it. Well the problem with that is, The sacrifice is too big. It's costing us more than we can afford. It's families that don't have time to know each other, it's children who are kept so busy with extracurricular activities and the rest of the time alienated from real and important family issue, that they feel lonely and have to search out other means of getting the sense of belonging, structure, and reassurance they so desperately need. Whether it's Littleton or Kosovo it's still the abnormal destructive human impulses that have to be checked. And only humans can do that only humans can strive to become kind caring responsible creatures who put people before things, concepts or anything else. Now that's true Advancement. Thank you Mr. Selleck I really enjoyed that interview. Beauty and brains Wow!
