This Cult / Horror
motion picture is a wild but faithful adaptation of Shakespeare's
classic hit. Set in early Rome, this is the saga of a noble man
cruelly betrayed and brutally persecuted-- ultimately driven to
madness and murder by the "wilderness of tigers" of
the Roman court.
This two hour
and twenty-two minute feature tells the powerful tale as it was
intended, focused on the simple truth: violence & revenge
simply begets only more violence & revenge. A tale of timeless
relevance and depth, yet a bizarre and exotic indulgence in the
horrific imagery of humankind's inhumanity to itself...
TORTURE, DISMEMBERMENT,
MURDER, ODDBALL HUMOR, CONSPIRACY, DEMENTIA, UNGLAMORIZED VIOLENCE,
HIGH CAMP, GENERAL WHACKY BEHAVOIR, CANNIBALISM, INFANTICIDE...
and more!

Storyline Summary
Information
on the play is readily available elsewhere on the internet. The
following plot synopsis / summary exclusively concerns our screen
adaptation.
Titus
Andronicus, a noble Roman General, returns to Rome from a victorious
campaign of war with the Goths. There is a dispute of who will
succeed the recently deceased Emperor. The Emperor's eldest son,
Saturninus, is proclaimed Emperor over the more popular Titus
in exchange for his pledge to marry Titus' beloved but irritating
virginal daughter, Lavinia.
Among
Titus' captives are the Goth Queen Tamora, her warlike sons and
her degenerate lover, Aaron. In vengeance for the loss of most
of his sons to war with the Goths, Titus makes a cruel sacrifice
of Tamora's eldest son, Alarbus-- thus sparking the chain reaction
of particularly nasty revenge acts that consume and destroy nearly
all the participants.
Lavinia,
secretly betrothed to the new Emperor's brother, rejects Saturninus.
The shunned Emperor seeks comfort with the captive Goth Queen
Tamora, empowering her with the means to seek brutal vengeance
on Titus and his family.
Innocents
are cruelly and imaginatively victimized as their persecutors
run free to conspire to bring down the Andronicus family. The
once mighty Titus apparantly crumbles under the pressure of torture,
dismemberment, general violation and wholesale slaughter.
|
The
villain Aaron mocks and generally torments Titus' son Lucius,
unconcerned about the hangman's rope around his own treacherous
neck.

|
 |
Aaron
emerges as one of the ultimate unredeemable villains of all time,
the absolute personification of "bad karma".
More
than two dozen bodies fall until the tides turn. Or have they?
The line blurs between who is just and who is unjust, as Rome
itself is compromised.
 |
Aaron chuckles as he and and
his baby "chill out" under the glare of the noonday
sun.

NOTE
TO ENGLISH LITERATURE PURISTS:
The
main liberty we have taken with the storyline of the original
play is to tie up some loose ends in regard to the eventual fate
of several characters, which we feel strengthens the fundamental
message about the nature of revenge-- and additionally, makes
a better horror story for our time.
