Preface

When I began to write this book, I decided that I didn't want to write a "how-to" book. I wanted a book to be a mix of stories about tracking and practical instruction. When I sit down with people and talk about some of the more interesting tracking tales I've been involved in over the years, I notice something interesting. Even people who couldn't care less about tracks on the ground listen intently.  They lean in, their body language telling me that they want to hear more. They're sorry when the story ends. I wanted people who have not had the advantage of being in one of our tracking courses (or sitting around my dinner table) during the past thirty years to be able to "sit in" on some of those stories. The prospective tracking student will also begin to understand how each of these stories involves tracking and how people can learn to do the things that might well seem improbable, if not impossible.

Joel Hardin.

After I read Joel's Book, I must disagree with him.  He mentioned that he didn't want to create a "how-To" book, but the book is a wealth of tracking information for anyone at any level of tracking.  Advanced students will learn from Joel's numerous stories with out of the box thinking to the successful missions.   Joel also has dedicated chapters on "Tracking Basics" "Advanced Training" and "Aging Sign", as well as chapters on "Search & Rescue Tracking", " Law Enforcement Tracking" and "Military Tracking". A great tracking book with 432 pages, to add to your collection.
