The Marysville Unit was formed in the fall of 1959, after a search for a missing hunter. It was realized that we had a need for an organized Search & Rescue Team in Snohomish County. After a period of time Alderwood, Snohomish and Darrington units were formed within the county. Everett Mountain Rescue Unit had already been established for technical type mountain missions. For ease of common procedures the five units merged to form Snohomish County Volunteer Search & Rescue under the direction of the Sheriffs Department.
