CHASE REPORTS AND IMAGES
 WELCOME!

This has been a very disappointing year for chasing in the southern plains and the slowest I ever remember for severe storms. In fact, I thought 1997 was bad, but 1998 has been worse up until a couple of weeks in June. So, for 1998 I  have only one chase trip where I bagged a tornado...well...actually 5 in one day. That was the Oklahoma City chase account below. I hope you enjoy my reports as I strive to make them detailed, educational, and entertaining. I especially hope you enjoy my storm photos.

I have finally found some time to start catching up on my other reports from this year, so check back often for additional chase accounts. Some of the images my take awhile to download, but please be patient....I think you will find it worth the wait. Enjoy!!

TORNADOES OF OKLAHOMA CITY & GUTHRIE
06/13/98
(Updated 9-9-98)
My best chase yet of several tornadoes including the OKC tornado. Some incredible storm structure along with some unusual features including a 'sidewinder' funnel. These were some really awesome storms including the huge meso over OKC that looks like a spaceship...simply no words to describe it.

NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS
05/08/98
(report only)
(revised 9-9-98)
The "Bowling Ball" supercells as Roger Edwards so accurately described it. These vicious HP supercells did all of the chasing this trip. Chasers everywhere were running for their lives including yours truly who narrowly dodged baseball sized hail. No pictures, but a chase report or more accurately a fleeing report.

VERNON, TEXAS
04/06/98
My first good chase of 1998. A very nice storm that was picturesque and easy to chase. Unusual storm structure for a supercell. I also saw the best "look alike" tornado I have ever seen.

1997 ARCHIVES
A very dead season for chasing. I was able to catch a few good storms however. I had a spectacular storm on Memorial Day in Montague County. I sat up on a hill and watched continued propagation in the same spot producing several funnels and one brief tornado. But, I left my danged camera at home!!  No kidding!  Arrgh!

(More pictures and reports to come soon from this year's chases....stay tuned!)
