CONVINCE ME!!

"Why in the world would anyone do once-a-month cooking?"

Practically speaking, here are some reasons to ponder.

SAVE TIME
Fewer trips to the grocery store, for one thing. By completing one concentrated effort of scratch cooking every few weeks, you aren't a slave to your kitchen, yet you can have home-cooked meals.

SAVE MONEY
Grocery chains depend on impulse buys to make up for the "deep discounts" on sale items. The less time you spend in a store, the less money you will spend because you don't see things to splurge on! Your grocery list is detailed and specific since you buy only what you will use; the food doesn't spoil or go to waste. (Or am I the only person with a refrigerator which makes a hobby of growing mold?)

GET HEALTHY
If your home is like mine, your worst eating decisions are made when you are hungry, running behind and don't have anything ready for the table. Planning ahead, you can provide a better variety of foods and a better balance of nutrients.

GAIN FLEXIBILITY
You can adapt to the needs of your family and your community. Neighbor ill or shut-in? New baby in the family? Babysitter available at the last minute? Bad weather prevents you from shopping? Kids on different schedules due to sports or activities? Jury duty? Mr. Mom in charge for a week? No problem! Find a quick-to-fix meal from your freezer!

Hopefully, this will give you some incentive to take a stab at once-a-month cooking!
