Canadian.

specializes in cashmere. Sells yarn by skein and cone, 8ply for knitting
(and 2ply laceweight). The 8ply is 6+sts/in on #5 needles. On sale: $130
for a 1 lb cone, or $13 for 1.5 oz skein. Variety of colors. Shipping cost
is by weight.

is now only mailorder but has a very nice supply. One socknitter says that,
since they've been taken over by another company, the service is not as good
as it once was.

for glow-in-the-dark yarn. Useful for late night walking, headband accent,
etc. There's a pattern for a headband in which this is used for the pattern

is another seller of coned yarn, mostly for weavers, but also some thick
enough to use for hand knitting without plying. Need to check the ypp (yards
per pound) again that of other like-composition yarns.

may be interesting, too. Claims to be a discount yarn store. In Arlington,
TX. Not really set up to take net orders, but will accept email querying

is an online yarn store. Has some very nice stuff, and a large sale page.
Nicely organized but slow (interesting: uses Lotus). Current sale has Fortissima.

for mittens with partial fingers and mitten flap. Patterns are $4.25 each,

- http://www.joyfulknitter.com/ is actually a joyful spinner. Offers handspun and died yarn (with a pattern). Mostly one-of-a-kind, first-come gets it.

survivor and offers a chemo cap pattern as well. There's an email newsletter
emphasizing cables. I wrote to Jane when she solicited applications for

Wholesale only sites, included here because there are good yarn images,
or other neat stuff. Often lists of local yarn stores, by state, that are

is a Canadian no-ad craft information site (voluntary contributions requested).
Has tips, links, patterns, chat groups. Variety of crafts, including(of
course since it's here) knitting. There's a writers guide, etc, for sharing
patterns on this site.

Quite charming, quite interesting. And for some peculiar reason the first sock pattern has kitchener on the heel!

offers a sweater pattern generator, dictionary, stitch list, etc etc. Maintained
as a hobby by someone who self-describes as most enjoying programming, math,
and knitting. Interesting description of choice of webhost (uses Cold Fusion,
and needs SQL access to a database).

charts), knitting, and is part of a fiber webring. Looks like another trail

to easy wrist strain. The purl technique is not the one I am using at present

Mailing lists and organizations.

The home page of the original knitlist (now a yahoo group), with links to
useful information such as a needle size conversion chart, and stores. Not
to be missed: a listing of events!
- http://www.woolworks.org non-commercial information for knitters. Patterns, links to other resources, reviews, discussion, etc.
- http://www.tnna.org is The National Needlework Association and includes a retail directory. The association is for the trade only; upscale.
- http://www.tkga.com is The Knitting Guild of America home page. I had a pattern in Cast On and used to be a member but let it lapse.

- http://www.woollythoughts.com is actually a retail site; it's an English couple doing maths-related knit and other designs. Quite interesting.

is another couple with home pages. There's a very good desription, with
pictures, of sock knitting as well as a chart and informative links.

is a place where one can get phrases or web pages translated. Comes out
rather oddly for knitting terminology, but good to know about. The french
woman has subsequently joined socknitters.
