Records birth as 1769 PA Richard went to war at age eleven
with his father, John Conrad Knight, and served as a drummer
boy in Captain John Beatty's Fifth Pennsylvania Battalion,
under Robert Magraw's Regement. He and his father were with
George Washington at Valley Forge during the "barefooted
winter" of 1777. Richard also participated in the War of
1812. Richard was a tailor, and later an innkeeper. He
lived in Harrisburg before settling in Liverpool, PA.
Tombstone - Liverpool Union Cemetary Leave new road at Race
st., go S. to Walnut, W. on Walnut (2 sq) to end at stone
cutters (critters). Turn left to rear end of cemetary, up

The Knight Hisory, compiled by Harry S. Knight, records
Richard's birthplace as Long Island. However, there is a
naturalization record for John Conrad Knight dated 1764 from
Conawaga, Twp, York PA.

Attained rank of Captain in War of 1812. Organized a
company of soldiers and marched them to York.
