Allied Families". ====== At age 17, Mary was killed during
the Revolutionary War by Cherokee Indians who were
supporting the British. After the war, her brother William
came upon the Indian Chief who had slain her. William took
the Chief's gun, shot him dead, and then stood trial for
murder at the old Ninety-six courthouse -- he was aquitted.
