Jonas is credited as the original owner of the Golden Lamb
hotel. In 1803, Jonas secured a license "to keep a house of
Public Entertainment." He built a two story log building on
lots purchased from Ichabod Corwin and operated a tavern
there until about 1812 when he sold the property back to Mr.
Corwin. Corwin tore down the original log structure and
replaced it with one of brick, which has survived and been
enlarged/remodeled serveral times in the years that
followed.
