      Class Rules for 2008-2009         

 

            Academic requirements for passing the course:

1. Homework.      ……………………………………….………………..10%

2. Exams, quizzes & essays…...................................40%

3. Class participation ……………………………………………………...35%

4. Being Prepared for Class………………………………………………..15%

 

 

A)    Attendance/Lateness: Students are required to come to class every school day.  Only absences due to illness or extenuating circumstances will be excused. Cutting or excessive lateness will result in serious consequences.  

B)    Class work: Students are required to be prepared for class.  This includes a notebook or loose-leaf binder, a textbook (if any), blue or black pen.  Every notebook should have a separate section for this class. Positive, active participation in class is expected. Students are expected to take notes during class. Poor class work will have a negative impact upon my class work grade that can result in a failing grade.

C)    Homework: Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. Students who are absent from school are responsible for getting the work missed.   Missing homework will result in a lower or failing grade. 

 

Behavior Requirements for passing this class

1.   Must be respectful to classmates and to teacher.

Absolutely no cursing. 

2.      No eating or drinking in the classroom, no gum on desks, chairs and or floor.

3.      If you have anything to throw in the garbage, please get up and drop it into the black garbage pail. Do not throw anything from your seat.

4.      No writing in the textbook of any kind.

5.      No writing on desks.

6.      Please raise your hand and wait to be called on before participating in class discussions or answering questions.

7.      If student is caught cheating on term paper, test, quiz, or homework, no credit will be given to the student for his/her work.

8.      Remember this is your classroom. Keep it clean!!!!!!

9.      Students must sign out to use the bath room.  If a student abuses the pass, his/her privileges

will be taken away.

10.  No hats, bandanas, do-rags, CD players, radios, ipods, playing cards, or electronics of any kind.

11.  Cell Phones must be kept at home. Any visible cell phones will be reported to the administration.

12.  If student feels that he/she has been treated unfairly by teacher, the student has the right to approach the teacher either after class in private or in writing to clear up the problem.

13.  If the complaint is valid the student has the right to demand an apology from the teacher.

14.  Students have the right to demand an explanation of his/her grades during scheduled conferences.

15.  Students have the right to be treated with respect by the teacher.

16.  *** Teacher reserves the right to take points from student’s academic grades if student chooses to violate any of the rules.

17.  Failing to follow these rules could result in a failure to pass the class.

18.  NO STUDENT HAS A PERMANENT SEAT. YOUR SEAT MAY BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. NO STUDENT MAY REFUSE TO CHANGE THEIR SEAT IF ASKED BY THE TEACHER.

 

***Teacher reserves the right to add any new rule to keep a professional and comfortable atmosphere in the classroom.

 

If you are caught cheating, you will receive a grade of zero for that assignment. If you help someone cheat on an assignment, you will also receive a zero.
