The five, Tripitaka and his disciples Pigsy, Sandy the water spirit,

 of course Monkey, and Yu-lung the horse who used to be a dragon, continued their journey from China to India

 on their holy pilgrimage to "get" the Holy scriptures. ....

Walk Like A Human

July, 2004  Natasha, a five-year-old black Macaque monkey living at Safari Park near Tel Aviv in Israel, began walking like a human after a near death experience.

Suffering from what was diagnosed as a severe case of stomach flu she experienced difficulty breathing and her heart wasn't functioning properly. After intensive treatment at the zoo’s clinic her condition stabilized and she began walking exclusively on her hind legs, unlike other monkeys who alternate between walking semi-upright and dropping down on all fours to move around. 

Other than walking upright, Natasha's behavior returned to “normal,” said the medic attending, who attributed her change of walk to a change in her brain which he called “brain damage.”

Macaques are Old World monkeys of the genus Macaca including 22 species, 18 of which are found in Asia. Highly intelligent, they display a great variety of vocalizations, emotions and facial expressions and live in social groups able to culturally transmit learned behaviors between troops. 

King Monkey, representing the first being to attain to self-consciousness, is usually thought to have been a Macaque. One species of Macaque is the so-called Barbary Ape of NW Africa with one colony on the Rock of Gibraltar, the only nonhuman primates in Europe.
