Consciousness is
to most people as water is to the fishes;
it is so all-enveloping
that it is usually
not noticed as a
phenomenon at all.
Often when we can
become aware of losing consciousness we can distinguish it as something in our lives.
It is a someThing
that is the context
in which happens Everything we experience as
our being.
We become aware
of self-consciousness as a jumping fish out of the water
for the first time
perhaps becomes
aware of
the water.
Awareness
is knowing one must enter into a dark tunnel to
See
the Light
for the first time.
The human beings of the Nile and the Two Lands built the pyramids and the world's first culture of ideas, a civilization built
on building rather than war. They called themselves the Children of Light, eternal like their father.
They were very concerned with matters of life and death so, it was so that they developed a sophistocated system
of language and eloquence, written by Art in hieroglyphs (sacred carvings), so that they could learn and commune
together with exhalted Words and sing songs in Praise of exhaltation.
And so, they became elevated in consciousness and,
becoming unsurpassed time-binders,
they placed with worship their wisdom and their dreams
into coffins, to float down the river of posterity,
to thee and to me.
It was a great art that they left us, long buried under the desert sands and now being steadily rediscovered. In
their Words and imagery they tell us that death and sleep are twins, being twin states of consciousness working eternally
out of our awareness.
This sub-consciousness is always active and operating the mechanics of our minds and bodies - it is a consciousness
experienced in our lives as a reflection and creation of the workings of the cosmos.
In so far as it is our subconscious, it is paying full attention to us whether or not we are paying attention
to "It."
We call it sub-consciousness yet it is but one aspect of our multifacited human consciousness, one of the infinite
points of view hidden in plain sight from our usual perception.
For the Children of Light, however, awareness of the subconsciousness and many other states of consciousness were designed
into their lives as Arts and Sciences available to the most common citizen.
Their national product was health and happiness in prosperity, as they worshiped the source of the Light from the Heavens and
the beings of Nature on the Earth.
The Sun is certainly at the center, being the Source of the great miracle along the Great River running to the
north, where the wind blew to the south, between the Two Lands of the Children of Light!
Now, every being,
by-coming, thought, monad, quark, atom, wave, idea or packet of energy has consciousness, and that consciousness is, for the
purposes of our understanding, designated as its neter.
The neters, depicted
with countless hieroglyphys (sacred glyphs), imagined as colorful spirits of nature in the theater of the mind,
for the purposes of spiritual witnessing among all Children of the Light.
The electromagnatic force of our solar system also
manifests as a neter and his name is ra, whose eye is the Sun.
There is also
a twin eye of ra, or so the stories said, the stories that the Children of the Light told to each other, as
they willfully pursued the mysteries.
ra is the absolute
Source of all conscious forms evolved on Earth, from the simplest to the most sublime, and there is no power in Life greater than
ra,
the male neter-spirit
who is the Sun,
who carries Mother
Earth in Orbit.

amun-ra (luxor)
In regard to levels of consciousness and that some consciousness
might be greater than another, the Children of Light also share with us the idea that man has an immortal consciousness
and humans are able to transcend all manifestations in space-time - and able to comprehend at all levels of consciousness.
That which is "I," can be thought of as an inclusion
with Other aspect of conscious “Is” that exist cosmically, as a series of planes of consciousnesses,
or worlds, often imagined as being similar to the skins of an onion, nested spheres expanding in radius from a center. To
those who have wisdom, these layers are divisions which divideth not, for one is many, many is one, and all that has
value belongs to thee.
The ancient hieroglyphs tell of worlds extending
from our materiality on Earth, which planet is the plane of completion and so, the most concrete or material plane, expanding
out to "spiritual" heights and distances of relative non-materiality. Yet
this too, materiality and non-materiality, is a division that divideth not. To see the one in the many is the first challange
for one who wills to travel in the mysteries and thus, does so travel. To learn to work with the parts is the second challange
and is rumured to take lifetimes of learnings.
Within these many planes of consciousness are those
available for immediate human experience, together with a series of corresponding subtle bodies. Among our
bodies are a physical body on a physical plane, a mental body on a mental plane, a spiritual body on a spiritual plane,
and an ethereal body, which is our energetic desire body and our connection to non-material source from which the falcon
hath swooped. Believe it or not.
The dreams of sleep sometime turn into nightmares of
monsters, portraying threatening harms in the theatre of our minds. Death, the hieroglyphs tell us, also has its dreadful
counterpart visions. Both sleep and after-death visions and experiences are sourced, which is to say, brought into being,
by the karmic workings from the direction of the 3 psychic planes of our human consciousness.
Karma is the word-name for an aspect of the mind
associated with the Memory of our pasts. An aspect is imagined to be as one of many points on a great diamond, each point
of which is seen by a human being from only a single point of view, aspects in their multitudes. The self-consciousnesses
of human beings is such a diamond - so multi-facited, multi-aspected. To become aware of its singularities seen in their
entirity is to behold a Mystery.
Of course, the aspect of consciousness that is aware
of itself survives sleep and its dreams. This is because the dream-reality we have entered as we lose conscious
awareness is an experience brought into being by our karma, our psychic memories, as images are projected from a booth
at the movies. So are dreams brought forth in the theater of our minds, of images and feelings, sounds and
words, stored in and projected from our subconscious being.
So self-consciousness, the consciousness that
knows itself, emerges in the darkess of our subconscious and sources, that is to say brings forth, an experience,
a dream. The dreams of the lives of the Children of Light were shaped by their desires, as our dreams are, and one of their
greatest desires was to enjoy life and survive death.
They lived their lives on the magical Nile as though this transformation would be possible but thought this transformation
impossible with a heavy heart. Continuation of the self as self-consciousness would be magnetically impossble if their hearts
are burdened by the heavy effects of "bad" karma. Such heavinesses, gathered during life, bring
the risks of bad dreams and loss of self-consciousness.
If the heart is light, both sleep and the after-death
states are characterized by dreamlike delight and swoons, completely karmic in nature, believe it or not.
That is to say, pur delights are associated with the
"good" memories we have accumulated and so, we feel "good" about ourselves and optimistic. Whatever neters there may be, they
all love optimism and come to love naturally.
The Children of Light knew that both sleep and the after-death
state (Neter-khert) can sometimes be accompanied by nearly overwhelming forces of dissociation (Set) and incoherence (Apep),
and that these confusing forces and the fears of uncertainty they arose can be compensated by the agreeably powerful forces
of cohesion and creativity (Isis). We sometimes seem to walk in fear that we will be
alone or not sufficiently initiated for the ordeal to win the renewal of ourselves. We fear a parade of imaginary
horribles that might cast our self in fear to monsterous beasts, or be grabbed up into a whirlpool and sunk
into total unconsciousness, forever losing sense of ourSelves, disappeared for evermore in the stillness of annihilation,
the Abyss.
Without our self consciousness the inevitable rebirth
of the consciousness of self would take place totally without memories of the past life. In this case, as our energy transforms
to new life we would lose the one that we have been and lose our name, and the psychic gains accumulated in the past life
would be lost. For the Children of Light, this is the worst disaster that could possibly be imagned.
Yet, these processes of transformation need not be done alone for, if worthy, one can be assisted
by telepathic communion with the Neters. This is a name resembling ‘nature’ that has been given to the multi-aspected Elements,
which are collectively the natural Energies and sometines thought of collectively as the Four Essential Elements: Fire, Water,
Air and Earth.
The Neters are these Energies personified for our understanding as Spirits of Nature, because the
time-binders, our ancient Children of Light, chose cartoon-like characters to convey complex ideas, even as we understand
today that a picture is worth a thousand words. Their art reminds us of our own true, multi-aspected spiritual
Essence, the elusive obvious that we can see
just by looking, if we know, if we will.
And when we look into our imagination for our self in the hieroglyphs of the Children of Light,
and as we imagine in our minds our own coming forth by day beyond the great scale of Ma’at — there we well see
Horus. This great Neter is The Face of the Horizon, in the guise of a falcon soaring oh so high in the sky, then dropping
faster than a stone into "reality" from out of eternity. In reality one must have a name, an identity. Since we have brought
our identity with us in our karmic memory, so we are home free here and the falcon can be trained by our hands!
I am the falcon, the prototypical
warrior hero of all times,
the consciousness that can train falcons.
We are waves
who’s stillness is non-being.
We are alive because of this,
that we have no rest.
Abu-Talib Kalim
In the language of the Children of Light, the word-name for such a "soaring drop" of the falcon
from eternity into space-time and the word for a certain identity, our human "soul," -are the same word. The word is
ba, meaning the absolutely unique being which is thee, the only kind of being capable of generating self-conscious activities,
always in motion and transforming in death from time to eternity.
The word ba, don't forget, is just a symbol
for our imaginatios to see, a mere symbol that refers to a soul's being, our ba, and
experience, I am a being who can be known and who experiences and remembers, a me that can be shared: ba is the
coherency which is me and thee, a mystery.
Imagine now now a division that divideth not.
Action brings forth Thought as
Thought brings forth Experience.
The less mystery, the more mastery;
Think about it.
At the Mouth of the Horizon Horus anoints my identity and I see with amazement that I myself am Horus, the quintessential
hero, the Avenger of His Father. He who is the ruler of kingdoms points me toward Osiris by his reminders, for he reminds
me of Osiris, My Beloved, mine higher, divine aspect with whom I am One and undivided. Osiris does not die but is reborn,
and is not subject to the frightful forces that seem to surround me when I am in joy in the vibrant fields of Life,
nor does he fear as I approach the point of the horizon where realities intersect when I become Horus, Avenger
of my Father. It is in Osiris that I Am the quintessential joy of Life ,renewed in the Light of my divine Will.
Osiris has many, many names, each marking his
central place in the emotional and spiritual lives of the Children of Light. Osiris Is ... Our Beautiful Being.
We only love what is our own and
What is our own we cannot lose!
WE, Celtic Consciousness
Initiation and the After-Life
In the world of the Children of the Light, candidates
for the Mysteries were instructed and initiated with a post-death drama, a theater wherein the self you know to be you
is directed through sub-conscious experiences. During these mystical experiences the candidate for initiation into the
Mysteries is led through a series of encounters of psychic and spiritual dimensions. Hieroglyphs of these adventures of consciousness,
including this story of Ani dug from the desert sands, were used as instruction manuals for initiates into the Mysteries
of Consciousness.
In this drama is represented a temporary death of the
physical body and a sleep of the psychological body, which twins occupy the lower planes of consciousness. Then follows an
awakening of a higher psychological body, a magical and intense awareness of an inner light of consciousness that has been
ever radiating in the indivisible and immortal human consciousness. And so, in this drama of initiation is revealed a level
of consciousness that has been ever present with us in our lives, an elusive obvious in the human experience, unrecognized
until initiation.
In this ancient initiation the adventurer becomes aware of the planes of consciousness
that one enters periodically in sleep and periodically in death.
He becomes aware because in initiation he experiences his inner dramas
fully self-conscious and
with a memory fully functioning.
THE TRIAL
OF THE SCRIBE ANI
"Here begin the chapters
of 'coming forth by day,' and of the songs of praise and of glorifying, and of coming forth from and of going into the glorious
Neter-khert in the beautiful Amenta;
to be said on the
day of the burial going in after coming forth."

The Papyrus of Ani, containing a number of chapters of the
Book of the Coming Forth by Day (Book of the
Dead)
The hieroglyph of the Papyrus of Ani is the oldest known depiction (ideas tracing back to beyond the dynasties which
built the pyramids, circa 2,600 B.C.E.) of the states of consciousness as experienced in the human being. It is a picture
of the absence of the self-conscious human experience in a place called Amentet, or Amenta, where a human is
present as if naked in death. Dominating the scene is the great scale of the netert Ma'at that will determine the judgment
and the fate of the one who has departed from consciousness and come for trial. It is an end and a beginning; a place
of reckoning at an horizon, a toll gate to rebirth where the price must be paid or the prize, a pearl of infinite value, be
forfit.
This hieroglyph, which is construed with many hieroglyphs, depicts an experience encountered by the deceased Ani in
his after-life and also symbolizes the initiation of the adventurer in consciousness into his sub-consciousness. He must temporarily
leave his physical body (khat) and travel in his ethereal body (ka) to Amentet for the evaluation process. After a favorable
judgment he is consciously reborn and becomes one with Osiris, the Beautiful Being, who is presiding neter of the cycle
of rebirth, enthroned at the right of the hieroglyph. Above Osiris, wearing the atef crown and holding in his hands
the ankh, is the wingéd Eye of Horus while behind him are Isis, of the power that binds, and her twin sister Nephthys,
Lady of the House; in front of Osiris is a lotus flower of the Nile, a favorite metaphor for The Two Lands of the
Children of Light. On the lotus stand the four children, two male and two female, fabulous offspring of Horus. Horus, son
of his father, is indeed the son of Osiris, the son whose Essence now is expressed as service to the dead,
as the solar genii and guide of the dead to Osiris.
The departed here is the scribe
Ani who is being led in from the left by the dire jackal-headed god, Anubis, another son of Osiris with the Lady of the House.
Anubis is the caring guardian of the dead who conducts the insubstantial corpses of the dead beings of Light from embalming
to judgment. The hieroglyphics on the wall near Ani announce the Words spoken by Ani to the Chiefs we can see portrayed above,
who are quite consciously overseeing the scene of the weighing:
"My (ab) heart, my mother, my heart, my mother, my hati-ab (outer-heart),
which I have transformed,
rise up for me in the form of potentiality!
Return to me before the divine Chiefs! Cause no burden for me in the
presence of Anubis, the Guardian of the Balance. You are my ka, which dwells in my body and joins in strength the parts of
my body.
Please come forth to the place of beauty and harmony without impediments
in my name, ye divine princes of reincarnation, that I may maintain communication with the divinities of beauty and harmony.
May ye hear this!”
At the great balance operated by Anubis, Ani's heart (ab) is being weighed against the feather of Ma’at and here
a balance must occur before he can receive a "divine heart" in the higher planes, that is to say, before he can be Osirified. The heart (ab) embodies as emotional memories the past thoughts and actions
of the personality, which emotional memories have linked the thoughts of the higher mind or soul (ba) to the senses and
motive emotions of the ethereal body (ka).
In theosophy the the ba/soul/higher mind/illumined
mind is the buddhi-manas;
the ab/heart/memory/desire-mind is called kama-manas; and
the ka/ethereal body/desire-body
is the kama-rupa.
It is the essence of initiation to learn to avoid and/or evade having ka become entangled and
mired in inferior realms of thinking, feeling and behavior. Such entanglements choke the ab and thus retard or obstruct the
natural impulses for healthful activities, happiness and well-being
which emanate from the ba and are
the true essences of the Life Force.

AT THE BALANCE
THINE ONLY HEART AGAINST A FEATHER
The netert Ma’at is the
divine embodiment and source of justice and truth,
a persona corresponding with karma
both in its macrocosmic (universal) and
microcosmic (individual) aspects.
The feather weighed in balance with
Ani's heart is from the plume of her crown and is renowned for its lightness, for it
is barely substantial.
Only one with a heart as light and pure as truth (ma’at)
can pass into the higher planes or worlds.
The
Ape of Tahuti sits upon the great balance to check its correctness. As Tahuti is divine intelligence
and fully in accord with his consort Ma’at, his opposite. The Ape of Tahuti is a metaphor of human intelligence
as a replication of divine intelligence (Logos), which replication is the logic and reason of the human mind which must
operate in space-time. This replicated intelligence can sometimes devitalize the Energy of divine logos if misused by the
ego when it usurpts the place of the ab desire mind. This aspect (or point of view) of our Ape's consciousness, manifesting
as animal cunning and a talent for rational, efficient expediting, has for itself a twin nature which is but another, "higher,"
aspect of the Ape consciousness:
This
aspect of our Ape consciousness has developed the human aspects of courage, wisdom, understanding and divine enlightenment,
which enlightement can be well imagined as the replicated sunlight from the Moon, the replicated moon
aspect of Tahuti that empowers the Ideas of this great neter of communication and language. Through the Word magic
of Tahuti, magic become manifest in the Two Lands of the Children of Light - and later in the world of the whole.
Without reflection, the Word
can be mistaken for the reality by Ape consciousness. With enlightenment comes the realization that the map, in deed, is not
the territory.
In
the best of circumstances, the reality of the existence of the ka in the world is transitory, fleeting. It is the enlightened
judgement of the Ape of Tahuti which confirms the ka's marriage to the ba, thus to have its life extended on the day of the Weighing of the Heart in Ma'at.
This marriage is Ani's true heart's desire.
A menace lurks beneath the great balance, the ravenous tri-formed monster Amemit
the Devourer, a dreadful creature with the forepart of a crocodile, the midsection of a lion and the hindquarters of a hippopotamus.
She is the neter of rememberance of overwhelming and insatiable desire, the tyrannical yearnings akin to addictions which
seek “forceful mastery” over the ab.
Her name Amemit means, “hunger of the dead,” and she personifies the obsessive-compulsive behaviors, passions,
cravings, lusts and fears that Ani must have overcome.
If his heart was too heavy to be Osirified, if his ka is not as light as the feather of Ma'at,
then his heart will be cast down into the maw of hunger that is Amemit. The dead man, using a lifetime of learning, is
seeking rebirth after being allowed to pass beyond the great Balance.
He hoped and believed he would ascend unto the glory of the life of Osiris, but he failed the test and in
belly of Amemit suffers his second and final death, never again to know the joys of Life.
Obliteration! - the worst thing imaginable to the heart of the beautiful Children of the Light.
The Ka must finally shake off its ego's megalomania, lodged as an arrow in his ab, in order to enter into a hermetic
union with its ba, and thus to be born again in the Light.
In this Union, ka and ba undivided, we are born eternally with our memories, divine traces of the visions of who
we really are, have done and have acquired. These are the memories retained, the reality of the Idea of I as an identity.
This is the reality of the twin neters, the division that divideth not. This unity of ka with ba is our willful identity,
a choice for the Light which can bind our conscious intelligence with our true heart, a marriage of ba with a ka lighter
than the feather on the Scale of Destiny. Glory Hallelujah!
By recognizing the inferior quality of the ego and the loathsome, though completely natural, aspect of its self-serving
nature, the Ka consciousness Wills itself into the higher profundity of the Ba, which is its coming forth by day to its
ultimate Everlastingness, when his heart is balanced with Light and he has been ignored by The Devourer.
But the wise do not wait until that day of becoming comes indeed. The ka subconsciousness will die to eternity
if it leaves the lands of the Sun not already firmly attached to its ba which animates it with divinity. Much work
must have already been accomplished in our life quests; we must have already brought forth sufficient personality and
individuality through being one with others.
Let
us listen carefully for an inner self to speak with us in our life, in our dreams, our visions, and in our calamities.
It is a sweet, nearly silent voice that seeks to woo us, to enchant us and to court us, tempting us to prepare the self
we know our selves to be, our ka, for our everlasting marriage with our ba, our eternal essence.
We
may pretend or believe we have not heard the small, still voice of our higher self. The pretentious ego is so busy
with day-to-day survival and pleasures, so self-involved , so compulsively self-important, so unwilling to surrender its self-centered identity.
So intent is its desire to have everything its own way that its own voice is oft' deafening. Remember now, that which Is is
both good and bad, depending on a point of view. An Ape needs that self-centered energy.
Never fearing the energy of the Ape, the entreaties of our higher self are constant and our ba nevertheless
will have fulfilled its function. Our ba, with its constant communications of metaphors and dream symbols, will not be
denied but will not be held responsible for a ka gone astray. The ba has done its best. Yet at best the odds have
it that few, so very few of the many, are those destined for communion in the hidden Illumined realms while living in
the Light on Mother Earth.
Though it sometimes seems difficult to communicate with the deeper levels of one's being, all that
is required in fact is Will. When its time has come, when the Lotus blossoms from the waters of the great river, ba consciousness
comes forth and finds its way fully and unreflected unto thine eyes and tastes, and through thine tongue or hands, into creation.
It is written, do not rush the blooming of the divine flower. All that is neccessary really is that we quiet ourselves sufficiently
to enter into a dimension of Will where we can hear that still, small voice, a dimension perhaps we can imagine in the
theater of our mind's eye as quiet as Amentet and the day of the Weighing of the Heart in Ma'at at that place on the horizon,
where realities intersect.
Above the scene in Amentet, Ani presents himself to the Company of the Neteroo. who preside over the great balance of Amentet. Observing and documenting the ordeal of Ani is the Scribe Tahuti with
the ibis head, personification of the nature of Wisdom and a consort of Ma’at. The hieroglyphs on the wall near him
caption him saying:
“Tahuti, Opener of Truth, speaks to the Great Company of the Neteroo
who are here in the presence of Osiris: ‘May thee hear these Words that exist in truth concerning the evaluation of
the one who is being judged according the heart of the Osirified. His ba rises up as a testimony of potentiality at the
time of Truth on the Great Balance. He is found not to have done any evil. No unfulfilled desires nourish him. His Source
of Light has not be split up. He has not been affected by the transition. He will be subject to you until he can exist as
a Master of the Earth.’”
The Company of the Neteroo reply in unison to Tahuti:
“What has come forth from your mouth is true concerning the potentialities
of the Osirified Scribe Ani, who is truth-speaking. He has done no evil. He has
made no infringement against us. He has not allowed Amemit forcefully to master him here. May he be nourished and allowed
to come forth into the presence of Osiris in the realm established in Sekhet-Hetepet (“Fields of Peace and Nourishment”)
appropriate for the followers of Horus.”
And so the ab of Ani is found pure, enabling the karmic residue of his life to rise beyond his ka to his ba. If the
karmic residue had been too heavy to rise it would affect the potential for further experience and, thus, tip the scales in
the wrong direction.
The announcement from the Company of the Neteroo permits the candidate to proceed.
Divine Horus, with the head of a hawk as the sign of Horus as the personification of Kingship, leads the newly born
to the throne of beloved Osiris, Lord of the Radiance of the Mouth of the Horizon.
Horus Son of Osiris and Isis, “Avenger of his Father”, says to his father that Ani has been
found to be without evil after the weighing in accordance with divine law.
In a great moment, Ani now speaks directly to Osiris, Throne of the Eye and Seat of Action:
“You have allowed me into thy presence, O’ Divine Guardian
of Amentet. No defects are in my ka or in my speech to prevent me from keeping full consciousness. None! None! May there be
given to me an existence as that of the Favored Ones who dwell with thee, O’ Osiris.
May I be greatly favored by the beautiful divinities and loved by the
Guardian of the Two Lands.”
This has been the final test at the end of a lifetime quest of Ani for reincarnation (to become Osirified). It is the
moment he becomes a Master of the Earth by having already learned to maintain the continuity of the essence of his
consciousness throughout a profoundly unconsciousness phase - so to be born again with a clear memory of his past life.
This has been a tale of the greatest success possible in life, to be born again as a perfected replica of what One always
was before, one Osirified!
When at death self-consciousness left his khat (physical body), his ka (subtle body) came to face directly its
own unfulfilled desires (face to face with Amemit the ruthless, the Devourer) in the presence of thine guardian (Anubis, protector
in the darkness) for the presentation of the judgment of his life record (Tahuti the Scribe).
By the strength of his agreement with the principles of Ma’at, who is the netert in whom abides in perfect balance
all justice and truth from the highest to the lowest, he passed the test.
The fateful meeting with Amemit the Ravenous at the Great Balance resounds in our sleeping life with the fears of nightmares,
of things which chase to overwhelm us. So, the weighing at the great scale of fate with Anubis, loving guide of the dead, reminds
us sometimes of the nocturnal workings of human consciousness. Imagine a nocturnal state of mind as a theater of the mind,
where Tahuti plays the part of our memory, for his is the hand that records memory in the records. In Tahuti's
hands are the karmic records, providing a linear tracking of successive sensory and extrasensory moments of
now.
These moments of now are evaluated according to the measures of the Ape of Tahuti, a.k.a., the Ape of Thoth,
who comes to us with his judgements in our dreams as well as in our everyday rationalizations.
Osiris, our Divine Light, watches. In these underwater processes of consciousness
can take place the construing and framing of the conscious expressions of our own divine potentials. In other words, these
are the processes which outline the formulae for the creation of our own possible futures.
We can best pass through such awesomely sublime processes by enhanced awareness and preparation when we are awake,
or alive. Initiations such as those described in the theater of the Papyrus of Ani were intended as preparations for the living
to bring forth such higher consciousness, which then needs to be nourished and cultured throughout life and, perhaps, through
many lives.
Above all, the quest, which is more about remembering than about learning, requires simply Will, from which, as a spring,
flow streams of dedication and intention.
Believe It or
Not!
Just hold thy Will, sayeth Tahuti - keep thine attention on thine intention. For only one entirely without
soul defect can become Osirified, become a Master of the Earth, and lead others into the company of the Divine,
just as does Osiris,
the Bull of the Hidden Land.
