Fortress Europe

As Europe comes increasingly under siege by asylum-seekers, refugees, economic migrants, jihadists, and others, it inevitably will put up walls, create military forces, and in other ways hunker down. One key development in this process is being revealed today by Franco Frattini, the European Union's justice commissioner. Called the European Maritime Border Guard Corps, it will be a EU-wide funded and staffed force in the Mediterranean Sea to hold back the flow of Africans.

If EU governments accept Frattini's plan, the corps could start work in early 2006. Its two main missions will be to detect boats leaving African ports via satellites and rescue ships in distress. Immigrants picked up at sea will be transported to European ports, processed in a fast-track asylum procedure, and those rejected summarily deported. Frattini sees in this maritime force a step toward creating a European Land Border Guard Corps. 

Comment: I predicted in 2001 that the military response by the Australian authorities to illegal immigration was "the start of a trend." Expect to see much, much more along these lines as the West protects its patrimony.   by Daniel Pipes  Weblog Dec. 15 05.

Nothing but the orthodox is permitted by fundamentalist bigoted* clerics and their oppression has attempted to quash innovative art since the Dark Ages. The Holy War of the 21^st Century may be seen as the final struggle of the clerically blind against the Enlightenment and in the Greek nation state the dark-age clerics have struck again, attacking free expression in a nation that is a part of a pluralistic, democratic Europe, may the Divinity bless its soul.

A cartoonist, Gerhard Haderer in April 2005 was found guilty in a Greek court of "malicious public blasphemy." Haderer is famous for his weekly illustrations in the news magazine Stern. His book, a 40-page religious satire and playful re-imagining of the life of Christ, has been banned, seized from Greek bookstores in 2002, and the court has now sentenced the artist to six months in prison (suspended) – if the authorities can get their hands on him. The book has been translated into 10 languages since it was published in Austria in the spring of 2002.

Many clerics, including Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna, have concurred with the “outraged” clerics of the Greek Orthodox Church and are standing firm against the artist but the world artistic community has come together behind him. Greek cartoonists and international artists are circulating a petition demanding that the ban be lifted and an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights is in process. Several publishing groups have sent a joint letter to Greek Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis condemning the conviction and sentence.

"This should never have happened if we were living in a real democratic society," said Athina Kouri of the book's Greek publishers Oxy. "Our position is that there should be no obstacle to the freedom of speech." Said another artist, “ … the whole idea of the European Union is that everything is supposed to be more open. But what happened to Haderer is scaring artists like me."

Arab Criticism of Muslim Extremist Activities in the West

BRITAIN'S NEW PREACHERS OF HATE   January 2007

A 10-month undercover investigation into the secret preaching of hard-line Saudi Islamism in British mosques has been revealed.  Most of the UK preachers of hate have been taught the rabid Sunni-Wahhabist doctrines of Islam in Saudi Arabian schools and are funded abroad by money from rich Saudi sheikhs, from the family-owned nationstate that the British government still claims as its main Middle Eastern ally in the fight against terrorism.

"King, Queen, House of Commons... if you accept it, you are a part of it ... If you don't accept it, you have to dismantle it … so you being a Muslim, you have to fix a target. There will be no House of Commons. From that White House to this Black House, we know we have to dismantle it … Muslims must grow in strength... then take over."  These are words typical of those heard in British mosques by imams trained by the people of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia.

The first violence to break out on Monday, October 2, 2006 in Windsor, England, UK, followed a public resistance to the unauthorized use of a former dairy as a mosque and to plans for building a mosque for the workers at the dairy. Some or all of the 50 workers were in the existing building for religious purposes at the time and, possibly provoked by native hooligans, the Muslims emerged in attack mode with pitchforks, baseball bats and iron bars, witnesses said.

Events escalated as youth poured into the area; windows of vehicles were smashed and there was widespread brawling Tuesday night. On Wednesday the front side of the dairy was petrol-bombed and the “workers” inside came out to extinguish the fire with extinguishers.

“Muslims’ insult to Britain’s heroes”

Five days of riots culminated on Saturday when Muslim crowds prevented four young Household Cavalry officers from moving into the house they had rented and planned to use for rest and recuperation after months of brutal fighting in Helmand, Afghanistan. The £3,000-a-month detached house is less than a mile from the Queen’s castle in riot-torn Windsor, England, and it was attacked with bricks through the windows and messages of hate were painted on the sides.

The soldiers were determined to win the day and move in, despite this attack and the many telephone threats they had received, but higher powers directed that this provocation was not worth so big a scene so close to Windsor Castle and so, the heroes went elsewhere and the terrorists scored a win. Mounted police were brought in and legions of police officers were deployed to stop and search youths and to keep the peace.

We can only observe the al’ Qaeda ‘operations on many fronts’ principle in action, the ‘soft jihad,’ wherever in the world that Muslims live. Here, we can note the evolving division-front between those Brits who are loyal to Britain and those who, because of a belief in a previous, exclusive loyalty, are not loyal to Britain. At the weekend, no one knew if the Queen would indeed arrive for her regular weekend visit, how the Household Cavalry would contain its outrage, or if there could be, indeed, any place for communities living ‘parallel lives’ in Britain.

On the other side of Islamist militant jihad are the smiling faces and busy hands building religious palaces meant for believers only, but both sides of Islamism mean to conquer the world of infidels to the medieval laws of their desert moon god.

In east London, at a location merely yards from the site of the 2012 Olympic games, is soon to rise the greatest mosque and complex in all of Europe, the London Markaz. It is to serve exclusively the slaves of Allah as their “Muslim quarter” for the Olympic Games. Later, if the words of their holy book are correct, it will attempt its subversion of Great Britain in the cause of Allah.

It’s to be a very grand and splendid mosque indeed and well funded, of course, by the world Islamists spawned by the Saudi monarchs and their clerics. Its estimated cost of £300 million compares with the £420 million for King Hassan’s of Morocco sea side mosque, the most expensive mosque in the world. The Saudi Arabian royals have spent countless billions renovating the mosques in Mecca and Medina and on their extensive expansion of their system of Wahhabi-extremist mosques and schools around the world. Oil prices are very high and Islamist coffers are filled.

The number of Muslims in the U.K. is estimated at some 1.6 million, or about 2.5% of a total population of some 61 million. Most live in London.

The London complex could hold 70,000 people and, under a futuristic series of roofs evoking tented villages, the three-story main mosque will hold 10,000. Wind turbines replace traditional minarets while translucent latticed roofs replace the domes seen on most mosques. The complex would include a garden, school, library and accommodation for visiting worshippers. Arabic-Islamic calligraphy would cover the walls and ceilings, the washing areas would have cascading water to mimic a stream, and the complex's buildings would be adapted to allow extra worshippers during festivals such as Eid, accommodating a further 30,000 visitors.

Should this project come to fruition, it will surely be the outstanding symbol of Islam in Europe, at least until an even larger and more expensive complex outdoes it. The mosque complex in east London would have the greatest capacity of any religious building in Britain: Liverpool's Anglican cathedral, the largest Christian place of worship, has a capacity of 3,000.  That the largest Islamic house of worship in Great Britain in 2005 is already over three times larger than the largest Christian counterpart speaks volumes about the spirit and ambition of British Muslims; that they are planning one almost 25 times bigger reinforces the point many times over.

But in 2012 the Markaz mosque complex is intended to serve as the “Muslim quarter” for the Olympic Games, a place for the world of believers to segregate themselves, for infidels a.k.a. unbelievers are never welcome in mosques.  (Largely but not exclusively extracted from reportage by Daniel Pipes, 11/05.

A poll was taken of British Muslims the day after 10,000 of them took to the streets of London in February, 2006 to vent their upset over cartoons published of their prophet. Results reveal an increasing radicalization of British Muslims:  4 of 10 (40%) want Qur’anic law (Sharia) imposed in Britain and 1 in 5 (20%) “sympathized” with the “feelings and motives” of the suicide bombers who killed 52 on London’s public transit system. reuters.

Islamist terrorism came to London during morning rush hour, Thursday, July 7, 2005, with four explosions (three in the underground trains and one  bomb atop a red, double-decker bus), which killed 52 innocents and injured up to 1,000. The three subway bombs were initially thought to have been detonated by cell-phone devices, reminiscent of the Madrid bombings of commuter lines on March 11, 2004 when 10 bombs ripped through 4 commuter trains during morning rush hour. The London bus bomb was thought to be either an Islamikazi or an accident for a mere terrorist carrying the bomb to another location. As it turned out, all four bombers were British born Muslims who died carrying their bombs to their targets. This was the worst possible case scenario, that they were British and they were Islamikazis, the first to srike in Europe.

One of the many Islamist British groups called Al-Muhajiroun, "the immigrants" in Arabic ( headed by a Syrian immigrant to Britain, the “firebrand” Omar Bakri Mohammed) promulgated this covenant of security and also its ending. In January 2005 Mr. Mohammed announced the covenant had ended because of anti-terrorist legislation passed since 9/11/01. "The whole of Britain has become Dar ul-Harb” (territory open for Muslim conquest wherein "the kuffar (unbelievers) have no sanctity for their own life or property."

At the end of March 2005, British authorities conducted the largest anti-terror raids since the US attacks on September 11 and, at the time of the bombing, Abu the Egyptian, aka, The Hook, Britain's highest-profile Islamist radical, had just been put on trail in London's Central Criminal Court on 15 counts (See the Trail of Abu the Egyptian below).

Thus, the nation went from safe haven to enemy camp and the only way to renew the covenant would require the undoing of the legislation and the release of those detained under that legislation. If not, British Muslims must "join the global Islamic camp against the global crusade camp." Mr. Mohammed continued on to threaten the British people: "The response from the Muslims will be horrendous if the British government continues in the way it treats Muslims" and if Britain cannot provide Muslims sanctity and security, Muslims will "give them a 9/11 day after day after day!"

In an April 2004 article in lexpress, Mr. Mohammed is quoted as saying that an attack in Britain is "inevitable because several attacks are being prepared by several groups." He continued to say, “We don’t make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents. Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value. It has no sanctity.” 

At least one Muslim is still missing after leaving her home for work that morning. In mosques throughout the nation Muslims are reported to have called themselves together, allegedly to mourn (though the prevailing Wahhabi interpretations of the Qur'an forbid prayer for unbeliever "kafir" dead) and to allegedly call the terrorists to justice. A large majority of Muslims in the UK have remained unwilling to this time, however, to denounce Osama bin Laden.  

At the beginning of August 2005 and after another but thwarted mutiple transit Islamikazi bomb attack in London, police continue their massive antiterrorist operations and the Queen's peace is disturbed in her realm. Omar Bakri Mohammed, after living in Britain for 19 years and collecting some 300,000 pounds in welfare payments, absconded the country and was arrested and then released in Lebanon.  He is forbidden return to Britain.

Before leaving Britain, Omar is quoted as saying, " I have wives, children, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law. It would be hard on my family if I was deported." Yes, he has wives. In a proposed 12-point program to deal with the terrorists in their midst, point 10 would establish a commission to encourage immigrants to more fully adapt to local customs.

In the United Kingdom, where democracy has provided a comfortable nest for spawning Islamists, Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammad on April 21, 2004 confirmed his loyalty to Osama bin Laden to his followers, mostly Pakistani’s, near London. 

In mid-April the Arab propaganda network al-Arabiya aired an audiotape from Osama in which he renewed his promises of violence against America while offering a truce to European states if they would withdraw their personnel from Iraq within three months.

The level of "chatter" — communications among people suspected of terrorism and their supporters — markedly increased since bin Laden's warning to Europe. The spike in chatter gave rise to acute worries that planning for another strike in Europe was in the works.
