Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, as he appeared in an April 2006 videotaped rant against “crusaders” and “rawafidh"
(rejecter) Shiites after opening with an acknowledgement of Osama Bin Laden as “our prince.” Appearing robust,
he referred to himself as "the brains of Al Qaeda in Iraq” as he predicted American "defeat and humiliation" while praising and urging
on the insurgents in Iraq. The picture is the first ever willingly released by the Jordanian jihadist and represents
a public relations “resurfacing” after months of obscurity. The video was released under the name The Freedom
Fighter Council, whose founding as an umbrella group for insurgents was announced in January.

Intelligence
operatives claimed that the April 25, 2006 videotape was made in Syria at a former Red Crescent army base near Tanaf. This craggy mountain
site 3 miles from the Al-Anbar province of Iraq is believed to be used as a rear haven and base for al-Qaeda. The area is
a major transit point for foreign jihadists entering Al-Anbar despite long-term U.S. pressure on Damascus to block these border crossings.

Al-Zarqawi the jihadist defines some terms - May 18, 2005
"Allah Has Ordered Us to Kill the Infidels and Fight Them by Any Means, Even if This
Results in the Killing of Muslims…There is no doubt that Allah has ordered us to target the infidels, to kill them and
to fight them, by any means that can achieve this goal, even if [those hurt] by these means include [not just] those infidels
against whom war is being waged – who are the intended targets – but also those who are not intended as targets,
such as women, children, and other such infidels whose intentional killing is not [usually] permitted. This is
what the Muslim jurists conventionally define as 'collateral killing.'
JIHAD
REQUIRES MURDER
… “It is permissible to commit this evil – indeed,
it is even required – in order to ward off a greater evil, namely, the evil of suspending jihad. To claim that [such
means of war] are not permissible here, especially in light of the present form of fighting, means inevitably suspending jihad
and stopping it – indeed, burying it alive and completely shutting the gate of jihad... This inevitably means surrendering
the land and the believers to the hands of infidels who bitterly hate Islam and its people, allowing them to impose at will
humiliation and inferior status on Islam and its people, and to drive the Muslims en masse, once they have turned them into
obedient slaves, to the slaughter, or to heresy and apostasy, while falsifying Islam and totally transforming it... [the infidels
are intent on] reshaping it [Islam] in a new form such that it becomes a religion that is different from that which was revealed
by he who was sent with the sword [i.e., Muhammad]. This is their highest goal, that for which they strive, and they
find those who collaborate with them in this among fools who claim to profess Islam and among the corrupt so-called ulama
(Muslim scholars trained in Islam and Islamic law). Which evil, then, is the greater? ...
ALLAH REQUIRES MURDERING PEOPLE
AS MUCH AS NECESSARY
"The evil of the temptation [Fitna] of heresy and idolatry* is greater than the evil resulting from the unintentional,
collateral killing of Muslims [in the course of Jihad] intended to destroy the Fitna of heresy and idolatry and to cleanse
the universe of it. * also, civil strife;
tribulation.
“Allah stated [in the Koran] that heresy and idolatry, according
to His law and His faith, are worse than killing. This is the Koranic basis for giving the safeguarding of the [Islamic] faith
precedence over the other four inalienable rights, the first of which is life. To safeguard those [other] inalienable rights
by forfeiting Islam... – this is the real temptation [Fitna] against which
Allah warns...” (The five inalienable rights in Islamic law are, in order
of precedence: religion (i.e. Islam), life, honor, property, and the right to procreate.)
"Islamic law states that the Islamic faith is more important than
life, honor, and property. Indeed, it is the most important of the five inalienable rights, and their very basis, and safeguarding
it (Islam) takes precedence over safeguarding them. It should be noted that all of these inalienable rights cannot be safeguarded
except through assuring the observance of the Islamic faith... Ibn Taymiyya said: 'Allah made it lawful to kill people as
much as necessary for the good of humanity. As He said [in the Koran, 2:217]: 'The temptation [of idolatry] [Fitna] is worse
than killing.' [This is so] because, although killing is evil and wrong, there is more evil and wrong in the temptation of
heresy…”

Al-Zarqawi Declares "Total War" on Shi'ites

Excerpts from a speech by Al-Zarqawi published in audio form on September 14, 2005 and downloaded
by MEMRI from the website of Al-Qaeda's "Jihad Media Battalion."
… "This is a call to all the Sunnis in Iraq:
Awaken from your slumber, and arise from your apathy. You have slept for a long time. The wheels of the war to annihilate
the Sunnis have not and will not halt… Have you not heard that many of your chaste and pure sisters from among the Sunnis
of Tel'afar had their honor desecrated, their chastity slaughtered, and their wombs filled with the sperm of the Crusaders
and of their brothers, the hate-filled Rafidites? (i.e. Shiites, a term used derogatorily by Sunni extremists).
“…The interests of the Crusaders have
converged with the desires of their brothers, the hate-filled Rafidites (the Shiites), and the outcome was these crimes and
massacres against the Sunnis… For this battle (Tel'afar), against this small group of believers, which numbers no more
than a few hundred, they mobilized over 10,000 soldiers, 4,000 of whom were Crusaders. Based on… (because of) the truth
about this battle and the identity of its true target, the Al-Qaeda organization in the Land of the Two Rivers has decided:
1) …to declare a total war against the Rafidite Shi'ites throughout Iraq, wherever
they may be
2) …whoever is proven to belong to the Pagan [National] Guard, to the police, or to the army, or whoever
is proven to be a Crusader collaborator or spy – he shall be killed
3) …any tribe, party, or association that
has been proven to collaborate with the Crusaders and their apostate lackeys – by God, we will target them just like
we target the Crusaders, we will eradicate them and disperse them to the winds…
"Finally, we
say to the Crusaders and the Safavid Rafidites[a reference to the Shiite Safavid dynasty of Iran]: Your crime and cowardly deed at
Tel'afar will not go without severe punishment, Allah willing… There are only two camps – the camp
of truth and its followers, and the camp of falsehood and its Shi'ites…
(who should) come out of their lairs in the Green Zone [in Baghdad], and to confront the brigades of
the mujahideen.

who believe in praying for help through Al-Husayn [the Shiite martyr] and through the family of the Prophet... and who believe
in the infallibility of their imams?... No, by God, they are not the same… Besides, they are no longer ordinary people
in the sense that you mean, because they [the Shiites] have become the troops of the occupying infidels and spies working
against the sincere Jihad fighters. The most important thing, however, is that they [the Shiites] subordinate themselves to
the Crusaders. In view of all this, can we turn away from fighting them?
"Honorable resistance is that which sacrifices the lives of its children
and gives freely everything precious… The worshippers of the cross have defiled the Koran, having thrown it in their
toilets as part of a complete plan to ruin the dignity of everything sacred in the hearts of Muslims. Woe to my [Islamic]

An al-Qaeda attack on worshipers approaching the Shiite Seventh Iman’s sanctuary, the Imam Mousa al Kadhim shrine
in Baghdad during the
annual pilgrimage, killed some one thousand human beings on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Mortar shells and Katyusha rockets
killed many and caused panic as the procession approached the shrine. Suicide bombers wearing vest bombs in the crowd aggravated
the panic, causing a fatal mass stampede.
Additional unused rockets were found later together with two car bombs and donkey carts loaded with explosives, which
could have killed countless thousands in addition if they had reached the shrine. Shiite leaders prevented an immediate retaliation
by the outraged victims but the Shiite street is said to continue to be spoiling for a fight of vengeance.
A Zarqawi al-Qaeda group called Al-Calipha Muzapar (Winning Community) claimed responsibility for the atrocity, reminding the
Shiites of the infamous sacking of the cities of Karbala and Najef and their Shiite shrines in 1801 by fundamentalist Wahhabi tribes
of Saudi Arabia.
They are back
in 2005 in Iraq under the name al-Qaeda, same killer philosophy, different killers.
