Soccer stories
At
USATODAY.com, I write a soccer column that runs
weekly during Major League Soccer season and occasionally at
other times. The
column includes a wrapup of the past week in MLS
and a preview of the next week, along with notes
from around the world and commentary on current
issues.
I also created a guide to various soccer
competitions for readers who need to know the
difference between the Copa Libertadores and
the Copa America or perhaps some background
on U.S. pro leagues.
I also wrote for USA TODAY's domestic and
international print editions during the overlap
between the MLS playoffs and the Sydney Olympics. The
following story was sent to the site and the
international edition less than 10 minutes after
the end of the MLS final in Washington:
At Knight Ridder/Tribune, I wrote a weekly
column on Major League Soccer and other soccer
stories. The Women's World Cup wrapup below moved
on the KRT wire one hour after the final. (The
link goes to a Web site that used the column; if
it's no longer active, please e-mail me):
For the 1997 NCAA women's soccer semifinals
and final, I wrote a preview story and a sidebar
for the News & Record in addition to my live
Web coverage (see below).

I have extended my wit to political and social
issues as a weekly guest in a chat session called
Week in Rebuke.
Columns for Virtual Life, a weekly
feature of the News & Record teaching readers
how to use the Internet.
Working
for a newspaper Web site: A
column for sportseditor.com about mixing Web
workers with the newsroom or the ad department.
