Allegheny County government is the first in the nation to
partner with local animal Shelters to care for abused and neglected animals. To provide much-needed funding to help hundreds of animals rescued each
year, the Allegheny County Treasurer's Office-in conjunction with Animal Friends, the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania,
and the Humane Society of Western Pennsylvania-developed the Allegheny Abused Animal Relief Fund (AAARF!).
This special charitable fund is overseen by the Treasurer's Office. All donations
are used by local Shelters for direct animal care and to cover minimal costs of operating the fund.
Your contribution can make the difference for abused and neglected companion animals.
You may send donations directly to:

When you support AAARF!....
- You support officials who treat animal cruelty as a serious crime.
- You support the County's goal of having all no-kill shelters by 2005.
- You provide veterinary care, food and shelter for the hundreds of local animals rescued from
abuse each year.
- You help prevent violence to people. Studies show that a large percentage of adults who commit
violent crimes start with animals.
Scientists and lawmakers are beginning to acknowledge that society's treatment of animals is inseperable
from its treatment of human beings.
