King Pine was the last mountain
of this six mountain day and what a very pleasant way to end an exhilarating day. I was greeted warmly by Kyle who,
get ready for this, has worked for King Pine for 57 years - that is the record so far on my trip (I almost want to call him
again to confirm this number – maybe later). It was 3:15 by that time of the day and with the mountain lifts closing
at 4:00 I quickly got my photo taken with Kyle right away and was off to the only active lift.
The round trip time from base
of lift, to the top and back down to the lift was around 6 or 7 minutes - plenty of time to get in four or five good runs.
It was nearly dark when I returned to the lodge to take my boots off and begin my journey back to home just outside Boston.
Again, more friendly conversation and a great send off by Kyle.
This day stood as my record for
most areas skied in one day – and a sore day at that. The seat of my car actually felt like a soft easy chair
at this point in my long day.
Now I felt like I really got this
Ski Odyssey on the road at last with nine areas in one weekend.
