37 Otis Mt. MA

Otis owner/manager - it was a bear of a winter!

This great beginner mountain with lovely, narrow (but not too narrow) and wooded slopes was closed the early March day I showed up, but once again small mountain owners showed me great hospitality with a ride up the mountain on the back of their snowmobile.  A tough winter I hear, but the folks were keeping their spirits up and looking forward to next year.  The owners had an old friend visiting the day I was there in March – it was as if their friend knew their spirits needed lifting – a gift on this day toward the end of a so-so season – hats off to friends.  Hey, I love the fireplace in the lodge – very homey feeling.

I raced from Otis to pick up son Geordie at the Pittsfield bus station – on his way home from college -  he joined his father for a couple mountains on the Odyssey.  It was truly great to see you that day and welcome you into my arms and back into your home – you are loved and sorely missed during your first year at college.  Geordie is also an excellent professional photographer – a little pitch for all your newspaper photo editors out there – call him for an internship for the summer of 2005!

I picked up Geordie at the Pittsfield bus station or should I say boat dock!
