I took this photo of a Cape Hunting Dog while out on photo Safari on the grounds of Mala Mala Game Reserve, abuting Kruger National Park in South Africa's Transvaal region in January of 1998. This dog was one of a pack of 13. Sightings of packs of Cape Hunting Dogs are extremely rare and I consider myself very fortunate to have been parked along side this pack for hours. No kidding. It was a lifetime goal of mine and I find it hard to believe that I achieved it.

Here's a side view of one of the other dogs in the pack. To look at these dogs one wouldn't necessarily think of them as being the most brutal predators in all of Africa. They are, when they are hunting, but when they are lounging, they're just "dogs".

Here are four members of the pack waking themselves up, beginning to play and getting ready for a hunt. If anyone cares to remind me, I'll take these pictures down and put up new ones now and then.
