Dogue de Bordeaux

Here's a Bordeaux bitch owned by a friend of mine. She's six years old and still very healthy and spry. I took this picture in early 2001.

This is an old picture of a fine Bordeaux Dogue. I used this picture in my first book which was published in 1984 and written in 1980/1981. I like this Bordeaux because it is of such distinct, specific type. It is certainly not a Bullmastiff, a Neapolitan Mastiff, an English Mastiff or anything else. It is a classic Bordeaux Dogue and nothing but. It's a beautiful dog, in my opinion.

Here's a "fat and froggy" Dogue de Bordeaux. I didn't take this picture. It was given to me by someone who had taken it at a dog show in France.

This is my friend, Chief Gerry Pleasant of the Hartford Connecticut Police Department, examining his cows on his farm while walking his Dogue de Bordeaux. The dog is 13 months old in this picture. Gerry is a typical "Big Cop". He won't show his face to a camera. (I'm sneakin' up on you with a camera soon, Chief!)

This is Gerry's 13 month old Bordeaux again. He finally decided he didn't like me sneaking up on Gerry with a camera sticking out of my eye so he gave me this warning to "BACK OFF!" Any experienced dog man can see, just from this picture, that this dog was "bluffing" but he was a pup at this time.
