Our History

The Maine Family Church has a long history that goes back to Korea in the 1920s.

From humble beginnings the Unification Church spread to over 160 countries in one generation

Our church was originally called the Unification Church.  We began in Korea in the 1930's.  Missionaries came to america in the 1960's and to Maine in the 1970's.  Since then our members have worked to teach about God and the Bible through the profound revelations of the Divine Principle, the teaching given to Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon.

Today the "Family Churches" exist all around America and throughout the world in over 160 countries.   In particular we believe in and practice a lifestyle deeply honoring God and Jesus as the Messiah.

The Bible is taught and family life is considered extremely important to prepare each person to eventually live in the eternal spiritual world after a period of preparation here on earth.
