I don't actually make New Years Resolutions, but I am going to try to update this more often. The best news is that we were actually able to get in the pool the last two weekends. I just love living in Florida! I just turned pretty chilly, so we won't be swimming this weekend, but hopefully it will warm up again soon. Dan and I have both passed yet another birthday. We celebrated his at Melting Pot and totally pigged out on fondue. For mine, we took the day off and did some shopping and had lunch at a local Cuban restaurant. Bought some cheese and had it with sausage and wine for supper. Unfortunately, we were both sick that night and Dan was down for two days. I think maybe we left the cheese in the car too long before we brought it home. Danielle and Kevin are coming over tomorrow and we're going to Outback for the 'official' observance. Hopefully the steak will go easy on Dan's stomach. I was supposed to go to Memphis on Sunday for work, but fortunately it got cancelled. Last month, Dan's niece, Carol, was in Tampa visiting her daughter, so we had a great visit with her. Met them for dinner at Rattlefish. Went to the Latin festival in Ybor City (which seems to get smaller every year), had lunch at Ballast Point Pier and hit some of the antique shops in St Pete. Also had a nice get-together at the house with her, her daughter and son-in-law, and Danielle and Kevin. My poor (and stupid) little Deiter is now missing an ear. He picked one two many fights with Ziggy and ended up with his ear in Ziggy's mouth as they jumped away from each other. Unfortunately, part of his ear went with Ziggy. I really do need drugs for that stupid dog. It's a good thing I love him... I doubt that anyone else would put up with him. Finally we got a vacation! Spent a busy, fun-filled week in Aruba. And no, we weren't worried about disappearing... ever read the murder rate in Tampa? Plus, we didn't plan to go partying with any teenage boys. Actually, it's a great place. Take a look at our Aruba trip log and pictures. The Wedding! Danielle and Kevin had their wedding on their cruise ship, and it went off with barely a hitch. The ship was beautiful. Both Danielle and Kevin looked fabulous, the ceremony was lovely, and the food at the reception was great. We stayed at the Cocoa Beach Doubletree and the only hitch to an otherwise perfect event was really poor (and often rude) service at the hotel restaurant. The only sadness was that most of her grandparents didn't live to join the celebration, but at least my Dad and my sister and her family were able to come down from up north. Wedding pictures. are now up. Held our 3rd annual Pre-Memorial day pool party this month. My sister, Penny, came down from Michigan for the festivities. She may never do that again - I put her to work :-) The theme this year was '60's Beach Party'. Description The contract job turned into a full-time permanent job at Jabil Circuit. Had a great time with Jan & Charles last month - went to a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game, John's Pass Village, and the Cajun Cafe. Got a contract job (Debbi). Finally, some money coming in. Wedding plans are for Sept 18th on the cruise ship. They will handle the wedding and reception before sailing - then the guests get off and Danielle & Kevin sail off on their honeymoon. Later this month, Dan's sister and brother-in-law will be visiting from Texas over Easter weekend. Can't wait. BIG NEWS - Danielle & Kevin are getting married :-) Danielle took her first cruise (Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman). We're preparing for Christmas. In lieu of presents this year, Dan & I are taking off for a mini-vacation in Orlando. We're staying at the Wyndham Palace Spa for 3 nights. It looks like a beautiful place with full spa services. We'll probably hit one of the theme parks while we're there. Got laid off (Debbi). Crap - I actually liked my job. Off to Mexico to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Arrived Saturday, the 10th. Was still a little sore from the surgery the first couple of days, but was pretty much over it by Tuesday. Stayed at the Aventura Spa Palace Resort on the Riviera Maya (on the mainland just opposite Cozumel). Muy bonito resort. Amused the locals with our few Spanish phrases. Explored the resort on Sunday. Visited Playa del Carmen on Monday. Went snorkeling and visited Tulum on Tuesday. Spent some time at the spa gettting a body scrub, wrap, massage, and facial for our anniversary on Wednesday. Then visited Xcaret on Thursday. Friday was a down day and we left for home on Saturday. It went way too quickly. Went to a rum tasting and drank WAY too much. Had a horrible hangover the next day... or so I thought. Turned out to be appendicitis and I gave birth to a bouncing, enlarged appendix. Worst hangover I ever had. Held our second annual Pre-Memorial day party. Caribbean food, caribbean music, and lots of pool time. The weather was great and it was fun to see everyone. House full of relatives! Dan's brother and sister-in-law from Texas and his sister and brother-in-law from New York came to visit Easter week. Visited John's Pass, Ybor City, and the Seminole Casino. Had a great time (come back soon guys!). Wish I could talk the Texans into taking back Jeb!
