A face on the cover of the Los Gatos Weekly Times

Suzanne Cristalo did a nice piece of writing, and Kathy de la Torre took these great photos... a friend says I must have paid them a fortune.

1998 Sisters Folk Festival

The festival features a songwriter competition, and much of the Saturday's daytime activities center around performances by past winners and current competitors. This year featured all of the past winners of the contest - Dave Carter, Glen McPherson, Darryl Purpose, and five great competitors. Though all five were great, I was particularly taken by Jay Howlett and Chuck McCabe, who turned out to be friends from the Pacifica, CA area. The judges had a tough choice, but Chuck McCabe emerged the winner with his humorous songs Burgers and Champagne, Pirhanas Iguanas, I Like Your Skin and the hysterical Our House is Your House. His was a very different style from past winners, adding a healthy variety.
