Czyzewski Family Page

About our family...
Our family roots go back to Indiana.  The Czyzewski (Paul) side of the family comes from South Bend, the Lani side (Ober) comes from Indianapolis.  We became our own branch of the family tree way back on May 30, 1962.

The Czyzewski's in our family, and the relatives that we know, are very artistic -- musical and visual.  The Ober side were merchants -- business operators and analytical.  We all seem to have a love and talent for the arts in some form or the other.  Some of us write, some play music, some make pictures, photographs or paintings...  some make, raise, and educate beautiful, happy children.

Our sons are Adam, Aaron and Arden.  Their wives are Lea, Karen, and Maria.

This page will always be a "work in progress."  We are still learning what we are doing, so check in from time to time.  It all is ART?

Who said there would never be granddaughters?  Now we have TWO.  Ava was born December 26, 2001 and is just beautiful.  Click on "Ava is here!" to see some pictures of her just after birth, along with her mom, dad, brother, aunt, great-grandparents, and more.  The picture above with Maria was taken at her Baptism, April 19.

Just before Thanksgiving Maria and her mother and sister opened a fantastic spa in Lowell, MA. This is a link some pictures taken on their open house.  Maria's aunt and cousins work there too.  It is truly a family enterprise, and doing quite well.  If you want to learn more about the spa go to www.iniziospa.com

Emma at five months (above).  How's that for a Mother/daughter look-alike?
She was born on July 27, 2001.  Time flies, as she is now starting to crawl and getting
 the all-important teeth!
The other day we are sure she said "jaja"
Emma at 9 months (right) she's starting to stand up by herself and giggles a lot.

Arden -- the "baby" of the family.  Some day he will be glad for that... trust me. He's showing off his (then) new braces!

Our grandchildren and their Mommas!!!

Much of our family is far away.  Arden and Maria, et. al, gravitated to the beautiful summers of the Northeast, facing warm and no humidity in order to search for different things in their lives.  We like to visit them.  So we make do.

Simon is just a couple of months short of two.  He is full of laughs and has a great appetite for things most kids have to be begged to eat.  He talks a lot and mostly says everything that Calvin says... meaning he also can say those big dinosaur names.

On the right are the cousins, Calvin and Logan, at Buszia and Dziadza's (also known as grandma and grandpa...) they are just two months apart.

Calvin.  He is just over 4 now, and knows the name of every dinosaur already.  Not only that, he also knows all the planets in the solar system.  He says when he is 14 he will go into space and be an astronaut and scientist.  He is helping in the family vegetable garden, and ate some collard greens the other day.  He likes to order is own meal when he goes out to eat.

Soon you can click here and see some more of Paul's
great pictures but right now we are still "under construction."

Cousins Dave Alvin, Mary Alvin Nichols,
and Phil Alvin

And here is a picture of Dave taken off TV accepting his GRAMMY during the awards ceremony!!!  All Dave's hard work and talent finally paid off.  The album is called Public Domain - Songs from the Wild Land.

Here's cousin Phil.  He's another great part of the
musical side of the family.  Like his brother, Dave, Phil spends some of the time on the road, and the rest of the time writing, recording, and working on his computer.

Paul and Lani.
We are now the matriarch and patriarch of the family.  Although the way things are going, the Czyzewski name will be around for a while. The male gene seems to be predominate... but now we have granddaughters.

We have an Antique shop.  It is partly Lani's Mother's antique shop that she had for years and years, and partly an attempt to recycle a live-long passion for collecting all sorts of things.

and here she is! (at 7 months)

Be careful if you come to Florida, there are
some pretty strange creatures here.

(More pictures of Adam and Lea are on the way... honestly... right, Adam?)

Here's a picture of Adam and Lea before they left Austin for Philadelphia.
Oops... now they are back in Dallas.  Something about Texas seems
to draw them there.

This is one of the few times so many of us were together.  It was taken at one of Dave's concerts.

Left: Adam, Lea, Aaron, Lani, Karen, Dave, and Paul just after a concert in Tampa not too long ago.

Adam - self portrait

This is one of my favorite pictures of Aaron and Calvin.  They are at the Tampa Museum of Art looking at a sculpture from the Brook green Gardens.  Calvin is trying to decide if he likes sculptures, and pointed out that the subject in this one didn't have any string in his bow.  Calvin is three here.
He will be five in November.

Here is Lea, hard at work on a children's book... hopefully to be published soon.

Here are Calvin and Simon having a serious conversation over some frozen yogurt.

Logan on his two wheel bike!  He's about 4 1/2 here.  Hard to believe -- they grow up so quickly. Logan goes to school, takes gymnastics classes, and is loving it.  He can even spell Czyzewski!!

Logan loves dinosaurs too...and here's one  for him.  When Logan visited, he got Calvin fascinated with them too.
They are into the technical aspects of dinosaurs... like who was a meat eater and who was a leaf eater... "you can tell by their teeth you know," says Calvin.

And here's Calvin hunting for Easter Eggs in his garden.

Here's a great picture of Calvin and Logan together at the airport when Logan and his Mommy came to visit. They hadn't seen each other for months and months, but Calvin walked right up and took Logan's hand and didn't let go until they got down to the baggage claim.. Keep logging on, we will be adding  more pictures soon.

And then there's Simon.  He is grandson #3, and a really unique little kid.  He reminds me a lot of what Arden was like as a toddler.  Because he is so big for his age, he can do stuff that you wouldn't expect a 2-year-old to be able to do.
