Belize 2000 |
On day 9 (Saturday) we spent the morning on the island and then piled into the boat for a three hour ride to Belize City. The seas were much calmer than on our ride out. We checked into the Chateau Caribbean, which somehow seemed much more posh than it had before, and immediately brought the place's water system to its knees as everyone rushed for the shower.
We all met up and headed for a farewell dinner together at, of all things, an Indian restaurant. It was our first meal in a week without tortillas. Instead, we had nan bread, nan being an Indian word meaning "tortilla".

Sunday morning it way one more tearful farewell meal then everyone scattered - some to the airport, some to a few more days of adventures in Belize. It was a great trip, and it took me a week to get back into the swing of things at work.

Paul and Anne at the end of the trip. Paul has mutated
from a respectable physician to a scruffy, bandanna-wearing adventurer.
Anne has, like, gotten used to not blow-drying her hair.
